Eire Óg - 'Go On Home British Soldiers'

I really have no words to explain why I like this song so much.

Critics may point out that the "IRA" chants at the start of the song, and the "you'll never ever beat the IRA" refrain, might potentially link the song with a terrorist organisation, I take a more liberal attitude. While it's true that a song celebrating the virtues of Hitler and the Nazis might be unpalatable, this song is more naive than it is fundamentally evil.

There's almost a nonchalance to the way singer Gary Óg (a Glasgow native) tosses out the words "go on home." As if it's not really real - as if the very real tensions that led to the hundreds of deaths in Northern Ireland are just a bit of craic.
